Laboratory Services

One of the success key of a project is the bottle tests to prove the production high quality/security standards as well as dimensions and weight repeatability.

With the use of high performance equipments, Techne internal laboratory satisfy all customer’s requests in terms of dimensions, structure, shape, quality and physical tests.

STANDARD TESTS

Dimensional measurement

During the production tests, the laboratory picks up the bottles and test the main bottle features with caliber, weight scale, Magna Mike and thermometer.

Through the use of a MITUTOYO machine, measurement accuracy is assured up to 0,001 mm.
During the Final Acceptance Test of the machine, one set of bottles is picked up every 30 minutes for at least 4 hours of production to check all the critical parameters and warrantee the repeatability.

Top load

TINIUS OLSEN top load machine checks the physical strength of the bottles and the weakness structure points to correct them and assure the perfect quality of the final product.

Layers measurement

ZEISS microscope verifies the correct layer distribution in case of co-ex configuration. Wall and layers thickness control is made with MAGNA MIKE equipment.

Drop test

Drop test with adjustable height (up to 3m) controls the strength of the containers, on bottom, top, neck and body sides.

Torque test

MARK digital torque-meter checks the cap torsion strength requested for screwing or unscrewing.

SPECIFIC TESTS

CP/CPK performance test according to Six Sigma program (Total Quality Management) ensures :

- high fidelity of the bottles compared to the project requests

- high repeatability of the bottles during the production in terms of all measures (dimensional and physical)

UN APPROVAL

Techne laboratory is equipped to carry out preliminary tests to obtain on-site UN approval.

Some of the tests performed by our laboratory :

- Stacking test (28 days, at 40°C, with 230 kg on each sample, a weight equivalent to a stacking height of 3 m)
- Top load test (with a 3 kN force)

- Drop test on bottom and neck (from 1,2 m height onto a steel plate with the container at -18°C)

- Leak-proof test (with 20 kPa air pressure applied for 5 minutes)
- Hydrostatic pressure test (130 kPa pressure applied for 30 min)
- Water immersion test (20 kPa air pressure into the container and immersion into water for 5 minutes)

LABORATORY REPORT

At the end of the internal start up, a full report is issued and delivered to the customer, with the machine process parameters and the results which attest that the production meets the requested specifications.

Upon request from customer, some specific tests can be run.

Our services give customers a warrantee of a quick on-site start up and basic guidelines on process parameters.
